WAYS TO HELP THE U.S .MEN’S SHED MOVEMENT
Be it talent or treasure, your contribution to US Men’s Shed is appreciated by the thousands of “Shedders” across the USA. Every Men’s Shed has its own unique aims and focus and can be defined into five main categories: Work, clinical, educational, recreational and communal. Read below on how YOU can make a difference to so many.

CONTRIBUTE YOUR TIME + EXPERTISE
Time is one of the most valuable things a person can donate and we need lots of it. A key contribution can be speaking or teaching at a local Shed. Sharing a skill or knowledge is always welcomed.
Helping to start or sponsor a Shed in your area is of great importance!

CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY
Our mission: Rally big-hearted people like you to raise funds for the US Men’s Shed Movement.
Our board covers all overhead so 100% of every dollar donated goes out the door, ensuring our nationwide network of Sheds have access to what they need to serve their members.

CONTRIBUTE IN ANOTHER WAY
This can range from donating items such as lumber, tools, hardware to allowing a Shed to be started by using space in your building. Do you have a large van that you’d be willing to drive small groups to and from events? Can you help us get the word out about Men’s Shed?
The list is endless, how can you contribute?
Here Are the Many Ways You Can Help the U.S. Men’s Shed Movement!
Your contribution will help start more Men’s Sheds across the nation. Men’s Sheds help create better futures for those who participate along with the communities the sheds work within. It’s not just men either, women have started 20% of sheds around the world.
QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION: Create your legacy with an IRA Rollover gift!
Did you know you could make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to the USMSA without paying income taxes? By making a contribution you will change lives for people who join and participate in Men’s Sheds.
You can reduce taxable income and avoid taxes on donations of to $100,000.
In making a donation you may be able to lower your tax bracket while reducing Medicare payments.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of charitable giving where you donate a nonrefundable amount, either in cash or securities, to a nonprofit of your choice.
One advantage to this type of giving is that you can direct the fund’s administrator to send grants to the causes or organizations that you feel closest to. You also immediately receive the maximum tax benefit from the IRS for your contribution, and you can set up the funds to continue even after your death.
Donor-advised funds tend to have a more complicated tax structure compared to other types of charitable giving. Your bank or financial manager can help with making contributions to a DAF that follow IRS guidelines.
CASH
A cash gift is the simplest form of charitable giving. Your tax deduction is equal to the amount of cash you donated.
The benefit of gifting cash is that it’s incredibly simple to do, and there are no confusing tax deductions or benefits to handle. The only thing you will need is some sort of record of the cash contribution.
The IRS states that you can’t deduct cash contributions, no matter how small, unless you have a record or receipt of the contribution. Which we at USMSA will supply you with.
SUPPLIES (IN KIND DONATIONS)
Do you have a loved one who left you with a lot of tools or is no longer using their tools? We would like to help you create a legacy for them by guiding you on how to create a Shed in your area.
Local Sheds also appreciate other supplies (office equipment, etc,). We soon will have Sheds throughout the country. Your in-kind donations may be the key in getting one started in your area.
